SA Looking to Clinch ODI's As Well

Maybe not the ideal end to the test series against England, but the Proteas have done what they went over there to do and now they're looking to do much the same in the one-day internationals.

The record book speaks for itself, the Proteas are a much better one-day side against England than in the longer format of the game which is why they'll cruise to a series win once again. In the 35 matches the two sides have played since 1992, the Proteas have won 22 while England could only manage 11 wins. One of those matches were tied and another ended with no result.

To further swing things in the favour of South Afr! ica is the fact that they have almost a completely different (and certainly a more fresh and rested) side who'll take part in the one-dayers. The likes of the vastly talented Herschelle Gibbs, the hard-hitting Albie Morkel and the versatile Vernon Philander will give the Proteas the needed impetus to deal with an England side who'll be fielding laregely the same side.

One-day specialists, Dmitri Mascarenhas and Ravi Bopara, are likely to join the squad but that's as far as it goes. Kevin Pietersen will resume the captaincy of the side after taking over in the recent series against New Zealand. Pietersen and Ian Bell will be looked at to perform for England especially at the death of an innings where both have proved to be highly capable. The One-Day series starts with a T20 international on the 20th.
