Boks Wrap Up Training

The Springboks have wrapped up their final training session at UCT before departing for the UK on Friday. Bok skipper John Smit missed training due to a personal matter. He's back in Durban and will join his team in Johannesburg. Tendai Mtawarira also sat out as he's not feeling well.

A number of fans showed up to watch the Boks run a few drills. It wasn't too intense, but the players did seem very comfortable - even with Ruan Pienaar at flyhalf. I must say Pienaar does look very comfortable at ! flyhalf, although it does look like the backline is drifting more often that straightening the line.

Schalk Burger participated in some of the activities, but is said to be struggling with a hamstring strain. Jean de Villiers was back on the pitch after missing training yesterday.

New flank Heinrich Brussouw simply slotted in well, while flyhalf Earl Rose was given some extra tackling practice. He had Ryan Kankowski running at him! Conrad Jantjes looks set to take the kick-offs. The full back was very accurate and consistent today.

Chiliboy Ralepelle got some extra throwing practice and also showed some pace for a big man. He finished off one move by selling JP Pietersen a shimmie and darting over the try-line.

The warm weather was great to train in, but it's probably also the last bit of sunshine the team will see for weeks, as they're expecting cold, wet and gloomy weather in Britain. At least Peter de Villiers will have a very relaxed and confident squad on tour.
